Be Proud of Being Tired

Image
Tiredness is often associated with a lack of enthusiasm in an individual. Here, I am not pointing out its definition. You’d rather see the Oxford Dictionary for that and not my opinion piece. You and I are here to revisit the approach of ‘getting tired’ in your workspace, life, sports, activity, creativity, or apparently – existing. Tiredness is pointed out as the limitation of a person. A point from where he or she cannot move or work or practice further. But isn’t it just the half-truth? Just the half-side? A person who is tired has used the upmost and utmost of his or her enthusiasm, energy and caliber. If you have pulled out your best moves, walked a mile extra, sung and rehearsed ten minutes more, or maybe burnt out your eyes through the Excel sheet for one round more, is it not obvious that you’d feel tired? Satisfied, of course. But tired? Definitely yes. However, tiredness is assumed not as a figure of appreciation. If someone admits that they are tired, we normally pi...

Error 609 Found: Benefit of Misunderstandings

Image
It’s July 2025, and if somebody would have asked me before this day, what am I afraid of- I would take two hours and say, nothing. There is no specific thing that comes to my mind of which I am afraid of. My mother is cool. My sister is sassy. My brother is my second copy (revised edition). Spiders? Well, I accept the fact that I co-exist with them. Crocodiles? By God’s grace I do not have to meet and greet them in human or animal form regularly. Lions? I live with Leos! But today, I realized that I am afraid of misunderstandings. That is a part of our existence that can drive a person to hate you, to be against you, to become an enemy. In my book Kaliyuga On My Curls, I had added a note that Misunderstandings are like Brown-tinted glasses. It can change how you appear to a person. This note was a hard-earned learning of my growing up. All my life, I have been very annoyed at the lazy-witted people for their quick-judgement on me. Or anybody. I do not find it fair whe...

10 Negative but Important Vices of Life: Giving Up

Image
Perseverance is the cradle of hope, destiny, and fate. Said no one. I am the first to put it like this! Waah, waah… waah, waah. We have been taught from Day 1 of our conscious lives that “ lage raho Munna Bhai ” is how you achieve your ambitions and dreams. The intent of: I would keep going and achieve things, now or tomorrow, tomorrow or day after tomorrow . If you keep going, success is sure to be found. And somehow it is applicable to everything. Whether it is cracking an exam or pursuing your lover (unless you are turned down, of course). People who are focused, ambitious, and know what they want; People who are eager to work in the direction are more likely to find their desired destination sooner or later. It’s just like the Hindi proverb: Bhagwan key ghar, Der hai, Andher nahi. Fine. But, what if the coin of perseverance fell into your lap with the flipside of giving up? Everything has a flipside, right? Even Yin has Yan. Black has white, Roses have thorns. Most people kn...

10 Negative BUT Important Vices for Life: Being Mean

Image
I can say, it has been ages since I was sitting inside a classroom and within a lesson our teacher suddenly shifted his focus to an out-of-syllabus question. He asked, " Do you know the importance of knowing a common language ?" The classroom waited in awe and wonder. He kept strolling from one end of the classroom to the other end: from the backbencher wall to the front-bencher blackboard. After three or four such rounds he said, " it brings an instant connection between two people ". Then, he expanded his theory by giving an example and saying " most of you sitting  here , have their mother tongue Bengali, right? All of you are classmates. But then... " he pointed out to six boys sitting in the fourth and fifth benches from the back, "... you six are friends, you have made a small group of yours because you identify your family background as the ones who speak in Hindi. "  Mind you, sir was not being racist or a communist here. He was just br...

Accept the Change

Unless you Accept the Change. You will never be able to Become the Change. We often get fiddled when our relationship dynamics change. That destroys us inside out... To lose a close person or realise they are not comfortable being around you anymore. Realising you are not their first priority or they won't choose you over others.  That hurts. Yes.  But we often amplify our pain by considering that this is permanent and things will never be the same anymore. You need to accept the change of behaviour and circumstances that life has brought on your platter. Taste it. if you won't taste it, how would you know whether it is up to your choices or not?  And once you know it doesn't suit you, maybe it's less salty or more bitter.  Add whatever flavour you wish to keep it going on. That new flavour can be departure, a momentary gap in the relationship or a gift to renew the bond.  Unless you accept the change. How do you plan to change what you don't like.  Denial ...
