The Aesthetic Keeda

Three years ago, at a college event, our HOD called me and my classmate to select the names of a few segments. It was for bidding goodbye to our seniors then. To have the fun heightened up, Sir suggested of including a segment where the senior class boys will be asked to flaunt their physique (with clothes on, of course!). We laughed. So, sir asked what a quirky name for it can be. My classmate and I first thought of "Muscle Maniacs". Sir asked for something closer to the idea. So, I suggested "ang pradarshan".

Both of them had big wrinkles and wide disapproval all over their face. Sir repeated the word 'no' at least five to six times, followed by the phrase, "That sounds so sick and cheap". I murmured "It is what it is?" Sir went on going, "Something classier and aesthetic." Now, come on the senior boys showing off their muscles didn't seem classy to me, rather more wild. They came up with something aesthetic that had nothing to do with the idea of senior boys and their muscles.

High on demand, High on fire is the Love for Aesthetic Photos, Aesthetic Jhumkas, Aesthetic Proposal, Aesthetic Thumkas. It does not matter if the photos had been clicked that way or if it was an amalgamation of high-quality edits. It does not matter if the jhumkas will last long or if are they comfortable on your ears or not. Nobody cares these days if the 'Karan Johar-kind-a' proposal will find a Yash Raj Chopra-kind-a-happy-ending or not. People don't care these days if the Aesthetic thumkas, reels, and guitar covers are original or not.

The love for classic presentation has been highly overvalued. In modern times, there has been a growing hunger for presentations that can be uploaded on social media. People enjoy more when something big happens in their life and it looks overwhelming on the camera lens as well. We are not living in the moment. But on the memory card of the 128GB internal memory of our mobile phones. Would it be surprising if I say that people these days fall for presentations and overlook intentions?

The marination of aesthetic glamour in every presentation is like singing a classical song and mixing it with jazz. Yesssssssss, I know that sounds innovative and something you'd love of hear: but this is also true that the Classical Song has an identity of its own. The classical song first needs to come out into its original mix and then you can try flavoring it with jazz, rock, hip-hop, or an 'audience-after-shock'. Anything needs to be fully experienced in its own original identity too.

In relationships, a person taking you on a luxurious date and bringing you flowers and making sure that they meet every paradigm of the classic novel is a beautiful gesture. But someone who is making sure that they fulfill all your small demands but doesn't elaborately remind you of it every freaking time is the kind of romance that has not been written yet. You might want to write that yourself, Don't you?

The twenty first century follows the need to revive originality. With the introduction of reel and tiktok, we became too consumed. We are fools to think that anything sensible can be a product of 15 seconds. No wise words take time. Beautiful things require space. Wise thoughts need time to build their foundation. A youtuber or tiktoker flaunts because they can't write or speak for more than ten seconds. Artists, original artists know that it takes time to sing the best verses of the song, it requires pages to write the most beautiful poems, it requires patience to narrate the most heart touching stories.

It is not sane to go out in the public naked wearing ornaments.

Aesthetic is ornamentation.

Originality is essential.
